Citizens Advice deserves better funding from Newcastle City Council

We, residents of Newcastle upon Tyne :

1. Thank Citizens Advice for its long service to those in need of impartial and effective advice

2. Note that it relies to a very great extent on public funding, and that Newcastle City Council has reduced its contribution substantially in the last few years

3. Believe that the cost of living crisis the city is currently experiencing is likely only to get worse over the coming months and years, and that Citizens Advice will be needed more than ever by those hardest hit

4. Note that neighbouring local authorities in the region give their Citizens Advice branches substantially more per head than Newcastle City Council does

and so we call upon Newcastle City Council to restore funding in the next budget round to the regional average, and in the mean time assist Newcastle Citizens Advice to obtain interim funding, and by defering rental payments to 2023 assist its cash flow.
