Call on Herts County Council to install On-Street Electric Vehicle Charging Points

The Conservative County Council has refused to support the installation of on-street electric vehicle charging points across Hertfordshire.

Liberal Democrat councillors tried to get the council to agree to allow their installation in residential streets which lack off road parking using, where feasible, existing street furniture. They were voted down by the ruling Conservatives who said they would only support installation in very restricted circumstances.

Liberal Democrat Leader Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst who proposed the move said:

"The Conservative approach discriminates against thousands of residents who live in streets with no off-road parking. This approach is entirely contrary to government advice. Herts County Council has declared a climate emergency but is failing to provide the infrastructure to allow us to tackle it."

Liberal Democrats want convenient and affordable electic vehicle charging points for all. We need your help to keep pushing for change.

Please sign our petition below to call on Hertfordshire County Council to support the installation of on-street vehicle charging points where they are needed.
