We, the undersigned, believe that convenient access to their own cash is an important service for many residents across Newcastle.
The location of free cash points across neighbourhood shopping centres also supports other businesses located there.
We call on Newcastle City Council to work with the clearing banks and other financial providers to maintain access to free cash points across neighbourhoods within Newcastle
Specifically we are alarmed to hear that as the Post Office contract with the Bank of Ireland to provide a cash machine comes to an end, it does not intend to replace it.
We consider this to be a significant loss to our community which will significantly reduce the ease with which people (especially those with travel and health issues) can obtain cash. And as much of this money is spent in the local shops on this parade on Brunton Park, it will adversely affect their viability.
We therefore urge the Post Office to make an alternative provision to maintain amenity for our community.
Whether you've already signed up to the campaign or aren't ready just yet, you can still help encourage other people to sign up.
