Shop Local Campaign

Shop Local CampaignMaldon Liberal Democrats latest campaign aims to encourage our communities in our towns and villages, to help support local businesses to survive and then thrive in these extraordinary times.

Having worked hard to collect the views of local businesses over the last few weeks, Colin Baldy, the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, said, "These fantastic small, local businesses - our farm shops to our pharmacies - plus the selfless volunteers which we've heard about, who work in our hardware shops and our leisure centres. They have all helped to keep our communities fed and supplied with essentials throughout the coronavirus lockdown. Now we need to make sure we thank and support them for their efforts. That means helping our high streets survive in the immediate future and then to thrive in the face of difficult times ahead and as we begin to emerge from lockdown and as we reach the end of the Brexit transition period at the end of the year."

"The current crisis has been challenging for us all as individuals and businesses. We have all faced significant upheaval and made sacrifices in all aspects of our life. Now we look forward to seeing our brilliant communities pull together, supporting jobs in our towns and villages by shopping locally and within safety guidelines."

Over the coming weeks the Maldon Liberal Democrats will be encouraging local businesses to share each other's content and to work together online to raise awareness of their products.

In addition Colin added, "We will continue to push our local Conservative MP and district council to provide as much support to businesses and individuals to keep the economy moving as possible."
