Residents Parking Zones - Parking Permit Petition 2020

RPZ Poster in Window

In 2013 the council made residents permits free.

Since 2013 many new Residents Zones have been created, with residents understanding these would be free.

In May last year local Conservatives said, "We do not believe you should pay your council tax and then have to pay to park outside your house"

But now our Conservative led Council is short of money and in February decided to introduce charges for residents' permits (£50 first car, £70 second car £100 further cars) starting from July. The Lib Dems opposed these charges in the council.

A challenge by local Lib Dems to the legality of the way these charges were introduced by the council means that local people now won't have to pay for a residents parking permit until their current free permit runs out; however these charges are still being introduced.

After signing the petition, please consider completing our survey on this issue - you'll find it under campaigns / Residents Parking Zones - you can also download and print a "Keep it Free" poster at home in a variety of colours.

We the undersigned demand that the Conservative Council reconsider their decision to introduce new charges for residents' parking permits.
